what is alpha?
The Alpha Course is an opportunity to step back from the busyness of life and explore the meaning of our existence. It provides an introduction to the Christian faith through a series of 7 short talks over the term.
Each Monday evening everyone meets up for a meal followed by a short talk, addressing key issues relating to the Christian faith. After the talk we split into smaller groups where there is plenty of opportunity to discuss and ask questions over coffee, and maybe a donut! Alpha is a great place to express your point of view - no question is too simple or too hostile.
Alpha for Students in Glasgow is relaxed and informal: it is open to anyone, student or otherwise. It is primarily aimed at those who are interested in investigating Christianity, regardless of belief or church attendance.
The Alpha Course originated in London and now runs in 28,700 places in over 150 countries worldwide. It is supported by all the major Christian denominations including Anglican, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Pentecostal and Free Church.
